About the SBU Equestrian Complex

The equestrian complex at the State Biotechnology University is a unique place.

The complex in the village of Mala Danylivka in the Kharkiv region, which was founded more than thirty years ago, is still functioning. It consists of a breeding reproducer for breeding Ukrainian riding horses, a Training Laboratory for horse breeding, a Children and Youth Equestrian School, an Equestrian Theater and a place for conducting hippotherapy classes for children. And the equestrian arena on the territory of the complex is an architectural monument built at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries.

In recent years, due to the lack of funding, the complex needed support, but it continued its work. Nevertheless, the full-scale war with Russia, which began on February 24, 2022, put it on the verge of survival. Almost from the first days of the war, the place where the complex is located became a war zone. Realizing all the danger and the responsibility for the animals, the university authorities and the staff of the complex managed to evacuate the horses and place them in safer regions. As a result of the bombing, buildings, stables and arenas were damaged. Over time, the animals returned "home."

Now there are dozens of Ukrainian riding horses on hold in the equestrian complex. However, the buildings of the complex are damaged and need reconstruction. Animals need care, medicine, and food. To cover the keeping expenses per one horse, about 10 thousand hryvnias (€ 250) is needed per month. Some of the needs are covered by charitable foundations, but this is not enough. We call on everyone who cares to support the equestrian complex and help save these beautiful horses. This will not only preserve sensitive animals, but also ensure the further functioning of the complex. It will be possible to conduct training and competitions there, breed horses, organize hippotherapy classes and even provide rehabilitation for people affected by the war. Taking care of our four-legged friends and supporting the equestrian complex is our duty and our responsibility! Let's save the horses together!
